Introducing Bird’s Eye Democracy, our new Substack.

We’re thinking of Bird’s Eye Democracy as a refreshing and positive sanctuary of democracy commentary—a place for reasoned, research-backed commentary on U.S. democracy. Dr. Dahl leads the show, giving voice to comparative, historical, personal, and playful perspectives.

We realize we’ve mixed metaphors somewhat. 

Birds typically have excellent sight and little need for magnifying glasses. Plus, dodos, with their lack of flight and poor sight, would never have experienced a true bird’s eye view. 

Oh yeah, and a magnifying glass is for taking a close-up inspection of fine detail, while a bird’s eye view typically implies taking a step back and understanding the larger picture. 

But we’re sticking with it.
